Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 8, 2026

Palsprint records your runs on your device first, backs them up to your account, and never shares them with advertisers.

1. Introduction

Palsprint is a running app that records your runs on your device first and backs them up to your account. This page explains what information the app handles and why. Palsprint does not share your data with data brokers or ad networks, and it contains no advertising SDK.

2. Location

When you start a run, Palsprint uses precise location to measure distance, pace, elevation and your route, including while the screen is off. The full GPS trace is saved with the run so you can see where you went. Location is only used for app functionality and is never used for tracking or advertising.

3. Health And Fitness Data

With your permission, Palsprint reads heart rate from Apple Health and Apple Watch, and reads step count and cadence from Motion & Fitness. It writes completed workouts back to Apple Health. Health authorization is requested once and remembered.

4. Runs, Pals And Routes

Runs, pals, eggs, awards and saved routes are stored in a local SQLite database and app preferences on your device. That local copy is the source of truth, which is why the app works with no signal. The same data is mirrored to your Palsprint account so a new phone gets everything back.

5. Your Account

Palsprint creates an anonymous guest account on first launch so you can use the app immediately. Attaching an email, Apple ID or Google account upgrades that same account so your runs, pals and awards survive. Name and email are stored with your profile; only friends require an account with an identity attached.

6. Friends And The League

Friend codes exchange nothing but a display name. The weekly league is a query over friends you have accepted. Award rarity is computed across runners and is deliberately left blank below twenty runners, because a percentage drawn from a handful of accounts would be a fabricated statistic.

7. Safety Contacts

If you add a safety contact with an email address and turn on the run-start alert, Palsprint emails that contact when a run begins, including where you set off from. Nothing is sent unless you have added a contact and enabled the option. Safety contacts are stored on your device only.

8. Subscriptions

Palsprint Plus is an auto-renewing subscription handled by the App Store. Purchase and restore are processed by Apple and the app stores only whether your entitlement is active. Payment details are never seen by the app.

9. Security

Data in your account is protected by row-level security so only your account can read its own rows. The Supabase anon key shipped in the app is public by design and guarded by those policies; the Google Maps key is restricted to the app’s iOS bundle id.

10. How Information Is Used

Your data is used to record and display runs, feed the incubating egg, compute stats, rings, awards, streaks and route records, show your position on the map, and back your history up to your account. It is not used for profiling or advertising.

11. Your Choices

You can decline location, health or motion permissions and still use parts of the app; declining location means runs cannot be tracked. You can delete individual runs, export everything as GPX or TCX, remove safety contacts, and delete your account and its synced data.

12. Children

Palsprint is rated for all ages, contains no user-generated content, no gambling and no third-party ads. It is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required by applicable law without appropriate consent.

13. Changes

This policy may be updated as Palsprint changes. The latest version will be posted on this page with the effective date.
